Hi there everyone.

I have a question on the popularity and longevity of what seems to be a
rather esoteric knee joint, the Acphapend from Proteval. I have used it
once on a patient who plasters walls and ceilings as well as laying
wooden flooring for a living. He took it about 2.5 years ago and I have
seen him only twice since then for socket adjustments. I have never seen
him to have anything done to the knee.

By my reckoning this is pretty unusual in the durablity department and I
was wondering if anyone else has used this knee and if they are equally
impressed by it. For those who are not familiar with the Acphapend knee
it is a pretty robust looking 4-bar knee with pneumatic swing phase
control which is very easily adjusted by the patient. One of the original
reasons for fitting this unit was its unusually large range of flexion.

I am eager to hear from anyone else who has used this knee and their
experiences, good or bad.

Thanking you in anticipation,
