Dear List Members,
There is no doubt that the OANDP LIST SERVE is the largest mail serve forum
addressing directly the O & P professionals worldwide. I think it is not
inappropriate to put a request for the welfare of the needy and poor
population of our country which by no means is capable to bear the costs of
a simple prosthesis. They are virtually unable to benefit from or even
discern between a modular and non modular or modern or old prosthesis.
There is no state insurance coverage for sickness or accident and what to
talk of sponsoring a leg, arm or polio brace. The institutions and
facilities are very few and trained man power is numbered as compared to the
country population of
120 million.
The Hope Rehabilitation Society founded in 1989 is unique in the sense that
it has provided the largest variety, has been able to introduce, in this
country, for the first time the modern appliances based on modern Orthotic
and Prosthetic standards. Transfer of technology, innovation and quality
are our basic objectives but the foremost and more important is
to serve everyone including the poor. Hence the majority of our clients are
served free of costs and funding is by donors from government, non
government orgs. and general public.
This society has been approved by the Federal Government as registered
charity and accounts are audited annually. We have new expansion plans to :
1. Start a training facility
2. move into a new building with planned working environment
3. Install new machinery
4. To call overseas experts for training, etc.
5. Open outreach facilities.
6. Camping in refugee areas of Afghanistan, Kashmir and other remote rural
areas.
We therefore request the worthy LIST members to step ahead in helping the
facility grow and prosper for the welfare of disabled population. We
solicit the assistance in cash or kind especially in providing free or on
nominal costs the following or those items which fall surplus during the
modernizing or replacement process of the facilities in your country:
a. Used prostheses of any type and size including orthotics.
b. Used Orthotic and prosthetic workshop equipment including Routers,
Sanders,Vacuum pumps, Vacuum presses for insoles, Shoe equipment, Casting
apparatus.
c. Used or second-hand tools of all types necessary in orthotic workshops
d. Any surplus materials.
e. wheel chairs, crutches, CPstands and rollators
This Society will remain accountable to any donor agency either directly or
through their diplomatic representatives in our country and will try to
cover the
freight costs.
With True Regards
