Fellow orthotists,
We have a patient with a partially paralyzed right upper extremity
secondary to GSW. He has no biceps, good triceps, and good wrist/fingers.
He has some other general proximal weakness in the shoulder. The other
problem is the shoulder is subluxed and very painful. He has had some
return since the initial injury in April. He currently has a shoulder AC
sling to prevent subluxation and position elbow at 90 deg. The patient
does not want anything terribly complicated but would like something more
functional. Our main goal is to neutralize subluxation and provide dynamic
elbow flexion. Please let me know your thoughts. Specifically, has anyone
used the Wilmer Elbow Orthosis. Thanks in advance.
