Mike,
First of all, it is not my intent to disparage you or your character.
I'm assuming from your first statement, I am a little taken back by the
public 'goading' of your post, that you in some way feel my intent was
to attack or humiliate you. That is not so. If on the other hand you
felt I was trying to urge or stimulate a response from you, then you
are correct.
I find it hard to believe that a board member 'does not' have a
fiduciary responsibility
to it's membership or constituents. If this is the case, I apologize
for the incorrect statement.
I do find it disturbing that a Board member cannot express his/her own
opinion to the masses. Instead of time and monies spent on
consolidation, maybe we should spend our time and monies on
restructuring the By-Laws and /or the Charter so that our elected
officials can communicate their opinions and true beliefs to us. After
all, good communication is the key to any successful venture.
What you say about, 'All hats may look similar but there are different
folks under them' is very, very true. But it doesn't really matter when
these folks are all made to walk, talk, and dress the same. (No
disrespect intended).
I truly hope your passion for the profession is still intact. It is the
passion in us that will shape and direct the future of our profession.
Respectfully yours,
E. Reed Coleman, C.P.
