US POLITICS
Text:
I am an independent PRACTITIONER first, but also the owner of a clinical
practice, and also a central fab operation. As treasurer of the FAOP, I take
pride in being a key player in the Florida licensure effort, the new
Medicaid funding for P & O in Florida, and the future development of a
university based school in Florida....
So I guess you can say that I am involved in P & O, up to my eyeballs, and
from several different vantage points....
With this said......
I have voted *****NO***** on my AOPA Vote
I have voted *****NO***** on my Academy vote
I encourage all my colleagues to do the same....
In my mind, the consolidation effort is so misguided, that I find it almost
comical that men/women of intelligence have determined this move to be
positive for the profession, or for that matter, the industry.... I guess the
reason I don't find this truly comical, is that hundreds of thousands of OUR
dollars, plus countless hours of OUR time, have been wasted on this drive.
I strongly feel that our three organizations should be run completely
independent...If and when this does happen, AAOP will certainly move up to
the next level, and AOPA will probably decline, or remain stagnant at best...
Competition is good for the consumer, and folks, WE (the dues payers) are the
consumers!!!
I voted my conscience, in a perfect world, we all do......
Wade Bader, LCPO,
Bader Prosthetics & Orthotics, Inc
Kinetic Research, Inc
Florida Association of Orthotists & Prosthetists, (Treasurer)
PS: Several months ago, It was suggested (on-line, by the same officers who
are orchestrating the consolidation push) that AAOP was subsidized by AOPA...
I have yet to see one shred of evidence that substantiate these claims... In
fact it appears to me that in reality, just the opposite is occurring....
