Ron,
I spoke at length with some of the Board members in New Orleans at the
meeting in March. It proved to be some very interesting dialogue. I
will not disclose from which Boards, which Members, or the actual
conversations that took place. We spoke in confidence, and I would
never break that confidence. ( I promised never to reveal their names
and/or affiliations. I also promised not to bring our conversations up
but, if it was brought up by another individual.......... I would speak
in a non revealing way as to those individuals statements. ).
There are Board Members that do not agree with the consolidation
effort. You are right, some have been railroaded into agreeing with
the Boards. The 'canned response' was, The Board supports
consolidation, and so do I. But if you take the time to talk to these
Members, 'not at them', a different image and mind set emerge.
I urge ALL members of their respective Organizations to talk to their
leaders and get their, (the Board Members), 'true feelings' on
consolidation. DO NOT take my word on it. Find out for yourselves.
Call your Board Members and 'talk to them', in confidence.
The funny thing is, the meeting was in March, and you are the first
person, either on the list-serve or in person that has raised this
question. (I've been quietly waiting !!!)
The sad thing is, you have to talk to your Board Members in confidence
to get the true story.
