Title:
Transmetatarsal amputation
Text:
Fellow prosthetists:
I patient of mine is an 80 year old female with a right trans-met amputation
40 years old. In the last 10 years she has been suffering from increasing
pain under her met heads. She brought in a bag of shoes and prosthetic shoe
fillers, ranging from toe fillers to molded arch supports with high
metatarsal humps and molded toe pieces. (She has not had a silicone-type boot
made, but I think she might be uninclined to wear it here in sunny, hot and
sweaty Florida.)
I told her that what I could do for her has already been done; I also told
her that I would post her problem on the listserve and see what answers I get.
Thanks, in advance, for your help.
David Hendricks, CPO
