Hello,
During the last few weeks our mailboxes have been filled with a lot of
oandp-l mail. Most lists would see this as a good thing, but many of the
long term subscribers of oandp-l have contacted me regarding the current
trend of public dialogue which has caused the list to stray from it's
intended mission.
The topics are quite worthy of discussion, but this is not the place for
this form of open dicussion. There are other lists which encourage open
dialogue, specifically dialogue between consumers of prosthetic services as
well as between consumers of prosthetic and professionals who provide these
services. These lists are AMP-L and the Amputee list at SJU. Wayne
Renardson and Ian Gregson voluntarily maintain these forums for open
discussion, and they have both provided information on how to subscribe to
their lists.
I am asking that we redirect the focus of this list back to clinical,
academic and political postings related specifically to professional issues
in the field of orthotics and prosthetics. This list is open to, and will
continue to be open to consumers of O&P Services, but this is not the forum
to have public dialogues of the sort that we have seen suddenly appear over
the last month.
This sort of discussion is welcome and encouraged at the other lists, and
professionals who are interested in this sort or discussion will be present
to debate and discuss these issues at length. Those who are not interested
in being involved with those discussions will not be present.
To be certain that important issues cross over between lists, I am asking
for two O&P professionals, one who is currently subscribed to AMP-L and one
who is subscribed to the Amputee list at SJU, to volunteer to be liasons
between the two lists. These individuals would have the responsibility of
providing OANDP-L with a periodic short summary of current discussions on
the consumer lists which may be of interest to those on oandp-l.
If you are interested in being a liason, please contact me at
<Email Address Redacted>
From this point forward, please limit postings to professional clinical,
academic and political postings. Please limit open dialogue, and reply to
individuals privately. Please repost a summary of the responses that you
receive to your postings. Use clear subject messages, and use the heading
US POLITICS: in the subject line of any political discussions related to the
US.
If you disagree with any of the above, please contact me through private
e-mail.
Thanks a lot for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Paul E. Prusakowski, CPO
