Tony,
I quite aggree that terminology is of great importance. That is why I
get so irritated at orthotists calling the tools by which they carry out
outhotic management as braces while prosthetist refer to the tools by
which they carry out prosthetic management as prostheses.
Invariably, when I ask an orthotist, Why, I'm told that ,If I called
it an orthosis they wouldn't understand what I was talking about. I
can only infer from this that Orthotistists consider their patients to
be of lower intelligence than prosthetic patients.
