I was going to stay out of this Dave but I'll give it a shot at the risk of starting a war on words ,again!!
This is for fun, guys! Get out of the attack mode!
What are the politically correct answers to the following:
1. Should a qualified ie. certified or licensed prosthetist and orthotist be referred to as (A) a professional health care providers or (B) a vendor?
2. Should the people they successfully treat be referred to as (A) patients (B) consumers (C) clients
3. If your answer is not patients, what other qualified health care providers correctly terms those he treats and provides professional health care services for as a consumer or client? (fill in the blank or blanks)
4. If the amount of your fees for professional health care services were determined by third party payers, HICFA, or other entity, what would you like to be referred as ----( A ) professional or ( B ) vendor ?
5. What would you like the person you treated to be referred as by the payer or by the party determining the amount of fair reimbursement compensation ? ---(A) patient (B) client (C) consumer
Answering that you don't care to what you or they are called as long as you get paid doesn't count as an answer!!!
That answer is why there is not fair reimbursement levels for the high level of O&P service you provide today!
Now have fun with this but think it through as if your professional future and survival depends on it! It may!!!

Hello all...
Having read volumes of list-discussion about what is and is not acceptable prosthetic-world terminology, I challenge anyone to post a list of politically correct terms that will go unchallenged by the members. I don't think it can be done.
Give it a shot.
