Dear Friends,
As you know, I was in Bosnia for 10 days. I worked at the local
Sarajevo hospital and the O&P facility (Neretva). It was a very enlightening
trip for me as well as very humbling. If I was to sum up the need in one
word, it would be SUPPLIES.
The hospital functions to the best of their ability with little to no
funding. Many operations result in serious infection and amputation. Sterile
gauze, disposable gloves, surgical masks are non-existent or in short supply.
They need for everything.
Their physical therapy department has one TENS unit, and the
equipment is extremely old.
Neretva, the Sarajevo O&P facility also requires supplies. They have
received many supplies from all over the world, but in many cases, it is used
equipment that has exceeded it's useful life. When I showed him the trunks of
new equipment that had been donated by gracious people and manufacturers in
the US, he was very happy.
I plan to write all of this up in a better form, but I wanted to give
everyone a thumbnail sketch as soon as possible.
Thank you for your prayers and donations.
God Bless,
Larry Wiley, CP
