Prosthetic modifications
Text:
I have a patient who is a left BE/WD who operates heavy equiptment (backhoes
etc.). Up to this point he has had no problems operating them since they
have levers that you push and pull to operate. The problem is that some of
the newer machines have newer electronic controls. On these you rest your
left arm on a pad and there are a series of buttons you push with you fingers
to operate the controls.(If your arm is resting on the pad, your fingers hang
off the end and the buttons are on the front panel behind the fingers.) You
also need to push more than one button at a time. He is not able to operate
these with his prosthesis. Any sugestions??
