The pro`s for doing orthoses in lamination technique :
you get a stiff and rigid device, thin and light for the customers
comfort.
trick is to use carbon webbings and carbon fibres to reinforce the
braces; this way of manufacturing an orthotic device makes it nessasary
to do a detailed planning before you start doing it.
Dummys for straps, trimlines and areas of reinforcement and areas of
thermoplastic postshapability have to be planed before.
Check only that your joints can be replaced and checked easyly, some
techniques a positioning the joints directly in the lamination brace -
bad luck for you if any service has to be done.... other techniques are
using a Titanium bar system ( small bars about 2,5 ´´ ), the advantage
is you can replace joint or parts of the joints without distroying the
orthoses - quick , easy and save ( reliability ) .
The only real disadvantage of lamination is a volumen change ( I mean
much more )of the customers extremity. Reinforced by carbon fibres a
themoplastic reshaping of the whole orthoses is not possible even
dangerous, by too much heat the laminat will be seperated from the
firbres .
Some suppliers are offering detailed information, lamination kits and
helping tools.
