It's actually a Saltiel orthosis, named after, I believe, Jimmy
Saltiel after publishing an article in 1969 describing the use of
ground reaction to stabilize the paralytic knee, without traversing
the knee joint itself with an orthosis.

I am posting this for a colleague in MA - has anyone heard of an AFO
called a sandteal orthosis - it is supposedly a ground floor
reaction style AFO - any info will be most welcome - thanks in advance -
Heather.
