Burgess Amputation

Dear colleagues:

As a German prosthetist I am lacking some information on the Burgess
Amputation for trans-tibials.
I know about the posterior flap and the difference in distal stump design
(much more distal soft tissue padding and distal volume - right?). I do not
know how often this is done (statistics available anywhere?).
Also in this context I would be interested to learn what US-prosthetists mean
when they talk about hydrostatic socket design.
When do you do it, how does it look like and what is important to know?

Thank you for helping me out with a little education and information.

Yours..
