Jocelyn,The Barr Foundation's approach in its' Where Hope Meets Help campaign, has been to carefully inventory donations of used and new components by model #,quanity and type under the donor's name (manufacturer, prosthetist, indivisual, organization, etc.)address and phone #.When the components are targeted for certain qualified recepients or organizations(via application approval),a delivery destination is is determined and recorded. The sponsoring prosthetist or humanatarian organization is then required to submit name and addresss, pictures of the recepient wearing the prosthesis and return that information to us.We then, forward the info on to the donor to provide him with assurance that his donations have been allocated for their intended use.The donor is then able to use this information for their own PR to reveal to the community their humanatarian efforts. The Barr Foundation will also submit this information thru our web site and O&P newsletters and amputee organizations and O&P media.
Regarding used components,It is my understanding that their use are restricted for foreign use due to U.S liability issues that prevent the resale or use in this country.Perhaps you can shed some light on this recent questionable legislation?
Although we are a small non profit organization, the system has proven successfull due to the generosity of manufactures, organizations and indivisuals and the Barr United Amputee Assistance Fund 's (BUAAF) sponsoring prosthetists.Even though the donor is able to recieve tax donation considerations (we are a non profit 501 C (3) organzation),there seems to be a sincere desire to assist others thru our program. I hope this has been helpfull to your question.

I have posted this to AMP-L and the O&P listesrve to inform the subscribers of our methods and purpose.
If anyone has input on how to perhaps perfect our procedure, please let us know.

I would be very interested to hear from companies that are tracking the use of there individual prosthetic components. I am involved in interim prosthetic provision which involves reusing components.

Standard ways of labelling or etching are unsuitable so I have been wondering what other people are doing.

I am also interested in an inventory system that would be compatible to the tracking system.

 In advance, many thanks
