I have consulted on a rather difficult case. 45 yo male with
with complete paraplegia at mid-thoacic area. He had a hemipelvectomy
some years
ago and has recently had a hip disarticulation on the other side due to a
severe infection. He is quite heavy set but not obese. He was previously
provided with a hemipelvectomy socket
but rejected it after little use due to discomfort and movement
restrictions. His ischial tuberosity is now well padded with a large
muscle flap. I am looking for options for seating other than a
traditional socket. He has been sitting on a roho cushion in a
lightweight chair prior to the surgery. He is independent in transfers.
Thanks for your thoughts.
