Thank you to all who responded to the
following question:
I have a patient who has chronic shoulder
dislocation. The Doctor would like a sturdy
orthosis to support and protect the shoulder.
I have seen literature on C.D. Denison's Duke
Wyre Shoulder Vest. Has anyone used this
orthosis? Are there any other devices that
also might benefit this patient? Please let me
know.
I received the following responses:
> If the person is a competitive athlete you might try the SSI by
> Boston Brace International. It is constructed of plastic...
> I have used a number of duke wyre orthosis from CD Denison.
> They work very well, but a little hard to apply solo. I have found
> the Orthomerica brand much easier to apply by oneself.
> I have used the SAWA Shoulder Orthosis w/ a lot of success.
> Check out the Shoulder Sublaxation brace from Boston Brace!
> I have used the Duke Wyre Vest for over thirty years. It is made
>out of very stiff and sturdy canvas lacing to control motion.
> They are good for sports but I doubt if your patient would want to
> wear it at times.
