Don't tell me we are going down this road again!!!!
History repeats itself over and over, doesn't it? Sounds like someone
has decided that something is good for us again, and that we will be
told how wonderful the world will be after we turn the clock back and
recreate a situation which existed in the 60's.
Doesn't anyone remember the past? Why must we repeat it? There was a
very good purpose for creating separation back in our glory days. Have
we lost the vision? We practitioners are not just leg salesmen touting
parts that have been manufactured by and are being sold by large P&O
corporations. But that's how we were seen for years before a group of
'radicals' cut us practitioners out of the mess and formed an
organization to represent who we really are. Who wants to go back?
Raise your hand! Do we need to make some changes at the next meeting??
It sounds like trouble when one establishment represents every aspect of
our field, including manufacturing parts, selling 'parts', fitting
'parts', credentialing (a-hem...I mean Certifying )it's salesforce,
and determining and providing its continuing education requirements,...
ah what? When does it all end? Where does it begin? How can I get in the
club? Clean the house!!!!!
CPO's are professionals. We are not salesmen. Who will represent us? I
don't even want to hear the prepared answer, because once you mix the
big bucks and the grunts (i.e. hardworking certified practitioners who
make the rest of us RICH), there is an old rule called the Golden Rule
which will come into play... He Who Has the Gold Rules. Do we hear
....Corporate interest group???? Let's not let our profession be led by
the nose to where we were 25 years ago. Stop thinking about ourselves...
think about the practitioner of 2010. Where do you want her/him to be
placed in the professional hiarchy of tommorrow? Where did we want this
profession to go 3 decades ago? Aren't we getting there? we've seen the
changes! But... Blur the identity of the profession today, mask their
voice, and be prepared for history to repeat itself again. Do you think
those young whipper-snappers won't have the same pride and identity
crisis that we had? Who is really pushing this? Is there a list of board
members involved?
