I am wondering about the origins of plaster casting for negative
mold, from which a positive model is generated.
The next question of course are the origins of the use of this positive
model for direct formation of a prosthetic socket , be it leather,
plastic or laminate .
The earliest direct mention of this is in an AA Marks book of 1905.
I am hoping for a reference from the Civil War era .
