IPOP question

I am looking for innovative ideas or experiences with IPOPs. I've been called
on lately to instant fit BK IPOPs in surgery fairly frequently on diabetics. I
have been putting on the standard plaster cast with the lambs wool, 3 ply post
op sock, reticulated pad, and relief pads. After 4 days I remove and re-apply
for 6-7 days. I re-apply for 6-7 days again and then remove staples.
My problem is that sometimes there is poor healing and I feel
these casts and them walking is causing the problem. Without being able to
check the wound daily the problem is going undetected for days. I am always
nervous taking them off after 6-7 days and not knowing what I'm going to find.
If you have experience with IPOPs please share your successful techniques.
Thanks ahead of time
