Text:
I have been referred a 19yo CP client with lax medial
knee ligament on right side, who stands and walks
with the knee internally rotated and flexed, and in valgus.
(Rotation occurs at the hip, external rotators are weak)
The foot remains in the forward facing normal position and
is flat on the floor. Manually internally rotating the foot
realigns the foot to the femur, and the flexion/valgus at the
knee is reduced. Standard configuration knee braces previously
tried have been unsuccessful. I feel bracing across the hip and
including a full AFO section will be required but would welcome any
input as I dont feel she will tolerate this give age and image etc.
Sorry for the brevity of the description, but I believe you get the
picture??
