Fellow OandP'ers:
I receivced this in private mail, anyone help this person in Japan?
PLEASE RESPOND DIRETLY TO Sender: <Email Address Redacted>
Dear Mr. Ian Gregson
I found your name at many places on the web pages regarding to
the amputee and am sending this mail for further questions. The
question I would ask is about the multiple handicape of arm amputee
and blindness.
I, named Etsuko Tanaka, have been working at the hospital in
Tokyo, Japan, mainly doing the rehabilitation training for visually
impaired patients. Recently I met the patient who had got the arm
amputee for both and visual loss because of a big burn accident.
Honestly, we, including medical doctors, occupational therapists,
physical therapist, have not had any experience with this kind of
multiple handicapped case and eager to know any little information
about it. Though I have kept hanging around on some related pages, I
have not succeeded to find what we want to know.
So, I would really appreciate it if you would kindly give me
the advise about the place I should make a contact to. Info. about
any related URL, mailing list, the name of organization, specialized
rehabilitation staff, or others will be very welcome.
At this moment we are especially interested in the following
point.
# what is the proper prosthetists and/or arm plastic surgery when one
is blind
# what kind of technical aids in daily life do we have
# what kind of work do same handicapped people do
Thank you for your time in advance. I hope I could hear from
you soon.
sincerely,
Etsuko Tanaka
