Hello, my name is George Bartley. I am a licensed master level social
worker .. finishing graduate school this past May. My special areas of
interest are re-hab (psychological and physical), recovery from
addictions, hypnosis and imagery, relaxation techniques, and the
internet.
(to the point..) In my own rehabilitation I have been trying to
find custom footwear/boots that either conceal a spring wire brace or
a plastic insert that can be used wearing cowboy boots. Both of my legs
have foot drop. I have had this condition since 1982 .. and I have only
worn cowboy boots since that time...because they allow my heal to hit
the ground first, and elevate my toes some too. The trouble is that as
the boots get old and wear out.....the toe elevation disapears. Then I
have to buy a new pair or try different ways of fixing the old boots
that will once again have the desired effect.
I feel like I am at a dead end hear because the doctors I have seen
only know about the standard spring-wire brace or the plastic insert.
I hope someone on this list can help or give me some ideas on how
to customize boots for toe elevation and general support for the rest of
the ankle, etc.
Thank you very much,
George S. Bartley, LMSW
