I have a young client, 13 y/o female, who has developed an interest in
marching band and is in fact at band camp this week. She is fitted in the
AK style and has a Syme amputation. Current prosthesis has an ischial
containment socket with an ICEROSS suspension via lanyard. Knee is a Total
knee. Foot is a Vari-Flex. The client is very short so space for
components is limited. She weighs just 95 lbs.
Some of the movements used in Marching Band have proven difficult. First
move is an exaggerated footslap. Tried a College Park foot but it was way
too rigid for her purposes. Second is to walk backwards on the toe with the
knee flexed. Considering an Otto Bock Stance control knee, any other ideas?
Any one have experience with this sort of thing?
