The course is based on the results of the 1994 International Society of Prosthetists and Orthotists (ISPO) Consensus Conference on Lower Extremity Orthotic Management of Cerebral Palsy which was held at Duke University, North Carolina in November 1994.
Emphasis will be placed on the following aims and objectives for orthotic management:
1. to prevent and/or correct deformity
2. to provide a base of support
3. to facilitate training in skills
4. to improve the efficiency of gait
Will provide a case study format to involve interaction of all members of the team and also of all registrants.

- Health care professionals involved in the management of Cerebral Palsy
Presenters: to include the following(more to be confirmed)
Dr. Peter Rosenbaum MD., FRCP(c ) - a professor of Paediatrics at McMaster University's Faculty of Health Sciences in Hamilton, Ontario and President of the American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine.
Tema Stein, B.P.T.,M.C.P.A. - a registered physiotherapist and partner of Footprints Paediatric Therapy in Toronto, Ontario specializing in treatment of children.
Doreen Hilliard, Dip.P.T. & O.T. - a registered physiotherapist, certified occupational therapist and partner of Footprints Paediatric Therapy in Toronto, Ontario specializing in treatment of children.
Diane Taillon, C.O., OTR - a Certified Orthotist and occupational therapist who specializes in and teaches pediatric othotic treatment and is President of the Elford Group, Ltd. In Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Don Weber, C.O.(c ), F.C.B.C. - a Certified Orthotist at Hamilton Health Sciences Corp.(formerly Chedoke-McMaster) in Hamilton, Ontario and Clinical Instructor in the Clinical Orthotics/Prosthetics Program at George Brown College, Toronto.
Gretchen Hecht, C.O. - a Certified Orthotist who for over 20 years, her passion and focus has been providing high quality orthotic management for children and is a partner at Sawtooth Orthotics, Inc. in Boise, Idaho
David Condie, CEng, B.Sc.,MIMechE - manager of the Rehabilitation Engineering Service at Dundee, Scotland where his interests include Biomechanics, Gait Analysis and Orthoses. He is currently a Board Member and Vice President of I.S.P.O.
Dr. Robert Friedman, MD. - a physiatrist who will share his expertise in paediatric care and spasticity. He is the present Medical Director and coordinator of specialty children's clinics at Idaho Elk's Rehabilitation Hospital
