Dear Friends,

I am from Singapore, Here currently we are fitting Below knee
prosthesis with the conventional design of laminated supra-condylar
socket with pelite insert, which I must say have problems with sensitive
skin particularly with elder people.

I would like you to ask about the Total contact silicone liners, which
may eliminate such fitting problems, I know this has been used
extensively in US, CANADA, and in EUROPE. We have not tried that in this
part of the world-South East Asia. There are a couple of questions
which I would like to clarify:
Firstly whether it can be used in tropical countries because of the heat
and humidity, because, sometimes people using limbs with pelite insert
feel it is warmth.
Secondly about the cost of such material and its life.

Any comments, suggestions and any interesting sites where I can have
more information in this regard.

Thanks to all,

N.M.ASHOK. DPOE,
Singapore.
