Colleagues,
I need assistance intrying to document recent prosthetic history, circa 1997 -2002. What Iremember is that Alpha Liners had durability issues with the PTB design and OWWrecommended adopting the TSWB design. Inthe box of Alpha liners, there was a note included with each liner that saidthat the OWW’s warranty would be void if the socket wasn’t a TSWB (or TSBdesign). Does anyone else rememberthis? Might anyone have one of thesenotes in a folder somewhere that they would share? I know this is needle in a haystack request,but this particular ephemera helps preserve our O&P history. An argument could be made that this period representsthe sunsetting of the patellar tendon bearing below knee socket design and thegeneral adoption of the transtibial total surface weight bearing design. Having documentation (the actual note, orpractitoner’s memories) would allow recording of the changing trends.
Here is a photo reconstruction ofhow I recall things were presented when you opened an Alpha liner box in 1997 with the elusive note I’m trying to track down.
<URL Redacted>
If you remember this occurrence, please send me a reply. If you have a folder with these notes in them, kindly forward a scan. Your care and attention in this matter is greatly appreciated.
BTW: Bonus points ifyou can identify the cartoons included in the picture.
Best regards,
Charles King, CP
