Hello all I have a gentleman who has a right MCL tear and suffered a left hematoma on the left side. He states this has left him with nerve damage. He has 3-quadriceps strength on the left side and 4+ on the right for quadriceps. Normal dorsiflexion on both sides. He can ambulate with walker but the left knee is unstable. He's elderly and is seeking a brace he can use for limited community ambulation. I vaguely seem to recall someone making a lightweight one with an extension assist. I really don't want to lock the knee unless it comes to that. My other idea was to use a knee brace with ROM knee joints, and allow some flexion but with a stop so he can recover if the knee does buckle. It's Florida so I do have have pay attention to costs. If anyone has any ideas of what has worked for you please advise. Thank you Paula Martinek, LPO
