I have a patient in a passive suction check socket right now. He has been
wearing it for a week and complains of no pain. Any redness goes away
after a few mins and I have tested with clay to ensure that he is making
contact distally. His skin is always discolored and his amputation was due
to vascular problems. He recently had the limb cleaned out and closed up
due to a sore he got from wearing too few socks. He was previously in a
pin system and I had added a tech spot inbetween the liner and skin to give
some cushion. To be fair when he would take that liner and tech spot off
there would be a funny pressure mark where the edge of the tech spot met
the edge of the liner.
Under his skin is a bubble of fluid marked in the picture and below it is
an area where if I press in, there is an area where my thumb seems to go
inbetween the muscle tissue as if there is a void. I was wondering if
anywone might have any idea what is going on. Any help is appreciated.
