Dear List:

Otto Bock has the following warning regarding the above: Important Safety Note: Entering a room or area with strong magnetic fields (e.g., MRI) can cause irreparable damage to microprocessor knees. Microprocessor knees should be removed before entering a room or area where strong magnetic fields exist.

The wording “or area” is confusing. Most certainly, a CLeg will not be allowed in a room where MRI takes place and the patient will be asked to leave it outside, where you leave all your belongings, like mobile phones, etc. Is the entire building with MRI machine considered as “area”? Should the patients leave their CLegs home and go for MRI using crutches?

Please share your experiences, as we might be having an issue with one patient.

Stephan
