Hello List, I failed to provide an update or include a summary of the responses.
We ended up having Knit-Rite reach out to us and explain that there was a short period of time defective nylons were sent out but they have corrected the problem and replaced our stock. The new ones are more like the original ones.
Below is a summary of the responses, thank you to everyone that contributed your valuable feedback.
-Guard Industries SG 100 nylons, best in the world. We've used them forever
-The best solution I found was to go to Walmart and get some pediatric white panty hose. They aren't dirt cheap but still overall inexpensive, especially if you consider the time savings and better finish outcomes in the afo.
-I found a comparable vacuum hosiery to the 6SVSSM20. Friddles sells an extra small hose that is treated with a closed toe. You can purchase them through Cascade Orthopedic, the part number is 700900T. I think you will probably like these better!
-I believe Cascade supply has some smaller ones with blue sewn ends. Check to see the sizing.
-We just use a twine and staple it at the toe, and then tie it to the pipe to drape the extra sock vs rolling and stapling.
-I have been using these for years. The SG-100 are great for pediatric casts. And I prefer the SG-20 over most other nylons for adult casts. <URL Redacted>

Hello list, we were using Knit-Rite's vacuum forming hosiery part # 6SVSSM20 size small-20 sewn toe with violet seam at the toe and this has been replaced by a different nylon that does not have a violet colored sewn toe. The replacement is larger in circumference and is too loose at the instep area on smaller pediatric AFO molds.
We would appreciate recommendations for vacuum forming nylons for pediatric AFO molds that do not require rolling and stapling the excess nylon at the instep area for vacuum forming.
