Prosthetists CONTINUING EDUCATION
Intro to Fabricating w High Consistency Silicone Rubber
Date July 19 OR July 20, 2019 Where O&P Technology Program Spokane, Washington
HCR silicone rubber is a versatile material that is inert, very flexible, and suitable for prosthetic use. HCR silicone rubbers are claylike in the pre-cured state and may be formed into almost any shape without the need to build complex molds. Available as a two-part system, this compound is mixed with the help of a two-roll mill and baked at a low temperature to achieve cured, durable rubber. It is available in several compatible formulations that produce different finished firmness. Add new power to your problem-solving capabilities with these adaptable, elastic, ultra-strong materials making liners, partial feet, and hand and finger appliances.
During this 8-hour course, the lecture portion of the class will cover special equipment and handling technique needed for proficiency in fabricating with this flexible material, and all attendees will have the opportunity to make a silicone liner during the hands-on lab portion of the course. This CE course is approved for 8 CEU credits by the ABC; 9.25 CEU credits by the BOC; 6 MCE by OPC.
Instructor Stefan Knauss MAMS, CPO
Stefan has been practicing prosthetics for 30 years. He is the owner of Aesthetic Prosthetics Inc., a company primarily dedicated to anaplastology since 1999. Stefan earned a bachelor's degree from Occidental College and studied at the Art Center College of Design. Stefan graduated from the Northwestern University School of Prosthetics and Orthotics and later earned his Masters of Associated Medical Sciences degree from the Craniofacial Center in the Department of Maxillofacial Prosthetics at the University of Illinois. Stefan is certified in prosthetics and orthotics by the American Board of Certification for Prosthetics and Orthotics.
