Hello colleagues,
I have a young BKA in mid 30s, active mother of 2. Hx of spina bifida with elective amputation of limb due to chronic infection and complications. Overall a success. However, she perspires profusely even in the winter time. She now removes the prosthesis plus liner whenever she sits down. Distance ambulation is limited due to having to “empty” the liner of sweat every 5 minutes. She indicates that this leg was always very sweaty prior to amputation as well, just now, with liners etc. this is become an additional problem. Also occasional skin maceration and blister.
Question: can anyone report success of a nerve block / botox to remediate this excessive perspiration? Any successes with the Endolite silicone “Breathe” liner (with perforations) to evacuate sweat in conjunction with a distal valve or elevated vacuum? Currently using WW SmartTemp liners which are better than TPE, but not really tackling the problem. Also tried allum topical anti-perspirant with limited success.
Thank you,
