Hi all,
Hope everybody enjoyed the 4th.
So for Medicare (and now other payors are going to do the same) most of us send the DWO to be signed by doctor. BUT:
1- Do we still need to have doctor’s progress note?
2- If so, should doctor mention on the progress note why he/she is ordering custom made Vs. OTC?
3- How about if doctor ordered OTC item (for example year ago) and wants to order a custom one? Should he/she explains why is ordering custom now?
If Medicare audits, we need to have all documents, so Medicare is not requesting money back; any information, sample of DWO, & … would be really appreciated.
Have a great weekend.
