Hi all I'm presented with a very challenging patient and I'm hoping for help since I'm frankly at a loss. She's elderly, very thin and frail, maybe 90lbs and about 4'10. Presents with a very severe and painful fixed kyphosis. Anterior I've got about 8 inches between xiphoid and perineum because of her fixed posture. To make matters worse she also has a colostomy and needs a good sized hole cut out to accommodate it. I've tried a soft dorsolumbar brace with a colostomy cut out but because I can't compress the abdomen very much she's not getting relief. Due to her frailty and not wanting to cast over a colostomy bag I wanted to avoid a rigid TLSO. Any insights into what I could do to give this woman some pain relief would be most appreciated. Thank you. Paula Martinek, LPO.
