Dear members/colleagues on the P&O Listserv: I have two of our senior year Prosthetic and Orthotic technician students working on a semester research project for me this semester. They are looking at the use of alternative materials to prosthetic socket layup. They are asking those on the Listserv to consider filling out a very short survey they have composed. I know how much all of you are always solicited for survey responses, so I would be very grateful for any assistance you can offer them. See their note to you below.
Regards, Dan Blocka, C.O.(c), B.Sc., F.C.B.C,

Dear Listserv Members,
Hello Listserv community! We are current senior year students in the Prosthetic-Orthotic Technician program at George Brown College in Toronto, Canada and hoping some of you will be able to assist us with the current research project we are undertaking this year.
We are researching the use of alternative materials to prosthetic socket layup. We have focused on basalt and flax fibres since they are currently available for use. We are interested in the input of technicians and clinicians who have experience in the use of alternative materials for socket layup, to aid our understanding of the feasibility of using natural fibres. We are hoping to gain an understanding of:
Why natural fibres were selected over conventional.
Challenges with working with natural fibres during lamination or finishing.
Client feedback (If there was any).
Overall impression of the natural fibre used - would you use it again?
If you have used basalt, flax, or another natural fibre, we would greatly appreciate your input in our survey below:

We would like to thank you for your time and input into furthering our research on the topic and look forward to sharing our results with the Listserv Community.
Thank you,
