Hello All
I have a patient that has recently been referred to our clinic and presents a couple unique challenges for me. The pt is a congenital BK amputee and has been since childhood.   Pt is in his 30s now and is quite active.  Pt had his knee fused when he was a child and thus presents similarly to a really long AK.  The first question that I have pertains to those experienced in coding.  Does insurance pay for AK codes when diagnosis is BK? Pt has a definite need for AK componentry but not the right amputation. Medicaid is the payer source. The second question that I have pertains more to those with clinical experience and the desire to teach/share.  Has anyone had experience with similar cases? What works well and what doesn't when knee centers are drastically different.  Pt's tibia is roughly 8 cm in length.  Any and all help is much appreciated.  I will repost suggestions.
Thanks Josh Satre O&P res
