Dear list,
I am the program coordinator for the new P&O program at the University of
the Sunshine Coast in Queensland Australia. I am looking at providing new
students to the program stories to read and consider about working in the
profession and was wondering if anyone is willing to share stories about
what it is to work in the field: the good and the bad; the ugly and the
funny.
These can be short stories that describe everyday work, what it is like to
work with individuals (co-workers and clients), how the profession is
changing, why you choose (and continue to chose) this work and funny
stories that highlight some of the unique cases I know we all have.
To maintain privacy, please remove real names of clients and co-workers and
let me know if I can use your name as well or if you would like to remain
anonymous as these may be distributed to students as part of coursework.
Please also let me know if I can follow up with you regarding the story,
either to ask more questions, put it in video format or expand on areas.
I am open to any story as long as it maintains focus on you as a
professional in practice and not a commentary on politics, please.
I think this could be a good resource for students as I can't think of
anything that provides stories of the profession on a whole to help them
develop a sense of who we are, where we came from, and where we might be
going; as well as getting to know some of the situations they may find
themselves in the future with work and with clients. I know there are
highlights in magazines, but it could be interesting to see it from the
perspective of all clinicians/technicians and focus on the everyday stories
of practice.
I appreciate your response in advance and look forward to learning more
about what we do and why we do it.
