Mastectomy Fitter Course Description
A mastectomy fitter is an allied health professional who is specifically educated and trained in the provision of breast prostheses and post-mastectomy services. This includes fitting, adjusting, or modifying devices that reflect the level of education and training received. This course has been approved by the ABC and BOC for 8 hours of CME credits and 6 MCE by OPC (Canada). This course is designed for new mastectomy fitters or as a review course for experienced fitters.
Topics included in the one-day course are described on the agenda and include anatomy and physiology, terminology, measurement tools and techniques, forms and care, scope of practice, ethical standards, roles and responsibilities, referral documents and medical records, reimbursement protocols, safety procedures, risk management, fit of prostheses, evaluation of data, development of treatment plans, patient management and education, and federal and state rules and regulations.
The course will be taught in Building 19, Room 110 on the SFCC campus and has been approved by the ABC and BOC for 8 hours of CME credits. The course is taught by Victoria Ferro, CFM (15 years) and Dori Sohner, BSN both of whom have clinical experiences in the field. The course will begin at 7:00 am with coffee, tea, juice and breakfast breads. Morning and afternoon breaks and lunch will be provided for attendees along with a parking pass. Registration Fee: $120 (includes refreshments, lunch, parking pass)
