Hey O and P-ListServ Community!
Thanks again for the 89 people who have participated already in this survey on alignment. This will be the final reminder, and I will keep it open for 7 more days then shut it down then let you know what I find out! Here is the link if you would like your opinion known.

Even though we only have a small sample, it appears alignment method used may be related to volume, experience, and clinical confidence, but now with location, However, I have yet to determine significance.
The clinical efficacy is interesting because confident clinicians are more apt to try alternative alignment methods, but when they are less confident they use somewhat traditional, if not outdated, methods, that may be easier to replicate.

Of course this is not to imply that there is a right or wrong, but alignment methods do seem to have changed, or evolved with some levels, but not with others. The use of digital tools for alignment in 2022 as compared to 1991 has increased, but is still a very small minority.
This may lead to another questions, “Why are clinicians so confident when the alignment has not been validated with some type of outcomes or measurement?”. How would the patient know what they didn’t get in terms of prosthetic performance?”, Is the “halo bias” of the practitioner an issue?
Let me know what you think, and I’ll share with you what I find in 7 days!
